    A native of Zhenning County, Anshun City, Guizhou Province, he graduated from Chongqing Architecture and Engineering College and is the founder of Huawei Technologies Co.

   In 2018, he was selected by the Central United Front Work Department and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce as one of the “100 Outstanding Private Entrepreneurs in 40 Years of Reform and Opening Up”, and was also the 2019 China Economic News Person of the Year, and was selected by Forbes Magazine in 2019 as one of the “Multinational Business Leaders of the Year Business Person of the Year”.

   He has been selected as one of Time's 100 Most Influential People in the World, 100 Outstanding Private Entrepreneurs in 40 Years of Reform and Opening Up, China's 50 Most Influential Business Leaders, and Asia's 100 Most Influential Business People, among other honorary lists.

     In September 1991, Huawei rented the third floor of Oyster Industry Village Industrial Building in Bao'an County, Shenzhen as a place to develop program-controlled switches. More than fifty young employees followed Ren Zhengfei to this dilapidated factory building and began their entrepreneurial journey full of difficulties and unknowns, separating the whole floor into four sections: veneer, power supply, general testing, and preparations, plus a warehouse and a kitchen. People sweated under the high temperature of the machine and worked day and night, designing and producing circuit boards, talking stations, soldered circuit boards, writing software, debugging, modifying and debugging again. Under such circumstances, Ren Zhengfei went to the site almost every day to check the production and development progress, held meetings to study the difficulties faced, and divided the work to coordinate the solution of various problems.
